Calais Man Found Guilty of Unlawful Sexual Contact 

A Calais man has been found guilty of sex crimes against a young girl.

Clifford Thornton, 52, was accused of sexually abusing three girls starting in the 1990’s.

According to First Assistant District Attorney Paul Cavanaugh,  a jury found Thornton not guilty of crimes against two of the girls, but guilty of unlawful sexual contact against one girl. The jury began deliberating Thursday and returned verdicts on Friday.

A sentencing date has not been set.
