The Veteran’s day holiday began with a pancake breakfast in Brewer.

This is the 6th year the Bangor Area Breakfast Rotary has hosted the breakfast at the Brewer Auditorium.

Organizers said it has grown each of those years, and this year they expected to serve more than 700 meals.

They expected more than 250 of those to be for veterans, and the vets ate for free.

Every member of the Breakfast Rotary takes part in the annual breakfast in some fashion as a way to say thanks.

“It’s a way for our club and the membership in our club to show our support for Veteran’s and honoring Veteran’s by honoring some thing as simple as a free meal,” said Jay Muth, the Chairman of the pancake breakfast.

As for some of the numbers…

They used 70 pounds of pancake batter, more than 100 pounds of sausage.

They estimated using at least 15 gallons of syrup.

And it was washed down with about 300 gallons of coffee, and 300 cartons each of milk and orange juice.
