There was a much deserved celebration at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor Monday.
A dozen local restaurants donated food for a Veterans Day luncheon and a musician donated his time to entertain all those who showed up.
Sam’s Club even had volunteers on hand to help.
While there is usually a special luncheon on Veterans Day, this one was about and beyond the rest.
“We went around and asked people who wanted to come and we had a number. Today, that number has increased a lot when they saw the party going on, a lot more people wanted to come,” said Greg Urban, Administrator at the Maine Veterans’ Home.
Organizers say this couldn’t have happened without all the help from volunteers and area businesses and restaurants.
