Skeletal remains have been found in Manchester, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Steve McCausland.
McCausland said a hunter discovered the remains Saturday morning off Puddledock Road.
Authorities said they are considering the area where the remains were found a crime scene.
Investigators with the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine State Police are looking through missing persons reports as part of their investigation.
“We can confirm that it appears to be an adult,” said Kennebec County Sheriff Ryan Reardon. “We don’t know if it’s male or female. There is some clothing associated with it and some items in and around the remains. Those will be shipped to the medical examiner’s office to be examined.”
