Orrington Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Charges Connected to Fatal Crash

An Orrington woman made her first court appearance today in connection with a deadly accident in Hampden.

Sarah Courtney, 33, plead not guilty to manslaughter and aggravated criminal OUI on Friday.

Police said she was driving an SUV that rolled over on bog road, killing her passenger, Sarah Eason, 28, of Hermon in April.

Assistant District Attorney Alice Clifford said, “There’s a lot of work that goes into these. These are complex cases and there’s a lot of different avenues that’s need to be investigated.”

Courtney’s Attorney, Richard Hartley, said,”I can tell you that she at the time was extremely upset at the loss of her best friend Sarah Eason. I can tell you that she continues to be very upset at the loss of her friend.”

The judge set bail at $2,000 cash. She’ll be back in court on March 10th.
