St. Joseph Healthcare in Bangor and the Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer are looking to raise awareness about the disease.
The hospital is offering free prostate screenings and exams next week. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer found in men. The American Cancer Society estimates more than a thousand men in Maine are diagnosed with the disease each year.
“There are many men who have significant prostate cancer who do not get diagnosed because PSA testing has been thrown out,” says Dr. Richard Batstone of St. Joseph Healthcare.
The free exams and consultations will be held next Thursday, November 14th.
