From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:
The combination of high pressure well east of New England and a cold front currently moving east through the Great Lakes Region will bring an increasing southerly breeze to Maine tonight. The southerly breeze and increasing clouds will hold temps in the 40s tonight all across our region. Showers associated with the cold front to our west will begin to develop across Maine late tonight as the front continues to slide east.
The front will produce more showers here tomorrow as it continues to approach and then crosses the Pine Tree State later in the afternoon. The strong and gusty southerly breeze ahead of the cold front will keep temps running well above normal tomorrow as highs reach well up into the 50s. Temps will begin to cool off later in the afternoon and evening as the cold front slips off to our east and the wind shifts into the northwest.
A gusty northwest breeze on the backside of the cold front will help usher a chilly airmass back into our region for both Friday and Saturday. A fast moving weak storm will likely bring some light rain and possibly some snow showers to Maine Sunday, followed by more blustery and chilly weather on Monday. Another cold front sweeps through the Northeast later Monday with a band of snow showers likely accompanying the front’s passage. Behind the cold front the coldest air of the fall season so far will be ushered into New England on a gusty northwest breeze Monday night and Tuesday, with parts of northern Maine likely remaining in the upper 20s for highs.
