Longtime Lighthouse Lover Honorary USCG Chief

A longtime lighthouse lover is now an Honorary Chief in the United States Coast Guard.

Timothy Harrison of Whiting, seen in the middle of this picture, was given the distinction last week at a surprise ceremony in Machias.

Harrison is known for his dedication to preserving lighthouses and their history, especially Little River Lighthouse in Cutler.

He’s also the editor of Lighthouse Digest.

The official certificate given to him was signed by the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard and the Commandant of the United States Coast Guard.

Harrison also serves on the board of directors for the Maine Lighthouse Museum in Rockland.
