Community Leader, Former Bangor Councilor Dies 

A longtime community leader and former Bangor city councilor has died.

Don Soucy passed away Saturday at the age of 83.

Soucy helped start the Bangor Federal Credit Union in 1956.

He also worked to bring The Penobscot Job Corps program to Bangor.

Soucy served six terms on the city council, three of them as the mayor.

He also served on the boards of a number of local organizations.

Family and friends are gathering in Soucy’s memory Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Brookings-Smith Funeral home in Bangor.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bangor.
