Man Accidentally Wounds Himself and Daughter While Cleaning Gun 


A Stonington man and his daughter are recovering after the man’s gun accidentally fired Sunday morning.

State police said Ryan Matson, 38, was cleaning his .45 caliber handgun.

The gun went off, wounding Matson in the leg and his 4-year-old daughter Riley in the thigh.

Their injuries are not life-threatening, but both are being treated at a hospital in Blue Hill.

Troopers said they do not expect any charges.
