Early Saturday morning there was an explosion at the mill in Lincoln. Police say the call came in around 7:00am. The explosion happened at Lincoln Paper and Tissue, near the recovery boiler area. Mill officials say three people were working in the area at the time.
Fire departments responded to the call. Police say no one was injured in the explosion and at this time they don’t know was caused it.
“We actually have employees got to a rally point where they’re counted and we had one employee that was not there initially but arrived about two minutes later and it was verified that all of our employees were safe,” said Bill Peterson, Vice President of Human Resources for the mill.
The mill is conducting its own investigation of the explosion but won’t be able to get to the area where the explosion happened for at least 24 hours.
