The IRS is warning consumers about a potential phone scam targeting taxpayers.

The Revenue Service says victims are told they owe money and if they don’t comply – are told they could be arrested.

The tax service says they do not ask for credit card or debit card numbers over the phone.

If you feel you’ve been scammed, call the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
