Fire destroyed a garage Wednesday afternoon in Hampden.
It happened at Keith Gould Automotive on Carmel Road South.
Firefighters say when they got there they knew they could not send anyone inside or get too close.
The house next to the garage was not damaged.
Firefighters ran out of water a few times while trying to get the fire under control.
” We haven’t had a lot of water this year. We have a rural hydrant hitch out here but the water is low. It’s just a fact of Maine this time of year,” said Lt. Frank Coombs with the Hampden Fire Department.
There were a few explosions during the fire.
Firefighters don’t know what exploded, but say oils, chemicals, and pressurized cylinders were likely inside the garage.
