Woman’s Body Found in Penobscot in Hampden Identified

The State Medical Examiner says a woman whose body was found floating in the Penobscot River in Hampden Monday morning drowned.

State police say she’s been identified as 51-year old Barbara Goodwin of Bangor.

She was last seen alive on Thursday, leaving a doctor’s office in Bangor.

Two kayakers spotted Goodwin’s body about 20 to 30 feet from shore, off Cottage Road.

They brought it to land and called authorities.

Police say they’re still trying to figure out where Goodwin went into the river and how.

No one reported her missing and she had no ID when she was recovered.

Bangor police, who’ve had contact with Goodwin before, helped investigators identify her.

Anyone who has seen Goodwin or been in touch with her since Thursday is asked to call State Police in Orono at 866-2122.
