From the TV 5 Forecast Center:
Weak low pressure will pull a cold front through the state this afternoon bringing scattered showers to some parts of the state this afternoon. The bulk of the showers will fall north of Bangor with a lesser chance for showers from Bangor southward to the coast. The airmass will stay cold enough so that areas north of Greenville and Millinocket will see the showers mix with some snow at times. Temperatures will top off in the 40s to around 50° for highs this afternoon. Showers are expected to move out of the state later this afternoon and early this evening. Skies will then clear out as we head into the night tonight. Slightly cooler air will move in behind the front so with skies turning clear tonight and light winds expected, temperatures will be chilly with nighttime lows in the 20s.
High pressure will build in for Tuesday giving us lots of sunshine. With the cooler air in place, temperatures will be in the 40s for highs in most locales with a few spots up north staying in the upper 30s. Clouds will be a bit more prevalent to start the day Wednesday as an upper level disturbance moves through the region. The clouds will move out during the morning and give way to more sunshine for the afternoon as the disturbance moves to our east. Clouds will be on the increase again during the day Thursday as low pressure moves through the Great Lakes. The area of low pressure will pull a warm front northward into Maine later Thursday which will give us a chance for some afternoon/evening showers. That being said, trick or treating could be a bit on the damp side Halloween night. Heavier rain is expected to move in late Thursday night and into the first half of Friday as the storm pulls a cold front through the state. The front will move east of us Friday afternoon bringing the rain to an end from west to east during the afternoon hours. Strong southerly winds ahead of the cold front will usher a milder airmass into the state with highs reaching the mid-50s to low 60s on Friday. Cooler air will return to the area during the weekend.
Rest of Today: partly to cloudy. Scattered showers possible especially north of Bangor. Showers could mix with snow north of Greenville and Millinocket. Highs between 43°-53°. Southwest wind 10-20 MPH becoming northwest later in the day.
