Nokomis High School Student Struck by Car 

A Nokomis High School student is in a hospital after being struck by a car Friday morning.

It happened on Williams Road at 6:15am.

Police say the girl was on her way to school.

” The person who hit the juvenile was very distraught, did stop on scene immediately, and did attempt to render assistance to the juvenile,” said Officer Phillip Boyd, with the Newport Police Department.

Officer Boyd said he did not know the condition of the girl, but would say she was at Eastern Maine Medical Center.

State and Newport police are investigating the crash. They tell us at this point they don’t know what caused it.

Police have not told us the name of the victim or the driver.
