It’s been called the crown jewel of Bangor and it’s shining a little brighter now.
The Thomas Hill Standpipe has new lights on the top circle.
The lights and wiring on the standpipe hadn’t been upgraded for more than a century.
” We’re using less electricity to light the crown, and the lightbulbs themselves, instead of lasting 6 months, will last 7 years,” said Kathy Moriarty, general manager of the Bangor Water District.
The lights go on every night.
You can tour the standpipe on December 11th.
