A spokesperson for the State Police said a plane crashed into Moosehead Lake Saturday night around 7pm.

He says the male pilot and his female passenger survived the crash with only minor injuries.

State Police and Game Wardens responded to where the plane crashed, which was about a half mile off the coast of Northeast Carry.

The State Police Spokesperson believes it was a four passenger, single engine plane.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified. They will investigate the crash.

The spokesperson also says the Department of Environmental Protection was also notified to look into any fuel issues in or around the lake.
