Two local teachers have been named state finalists for a national teaching award in math and science.
Robin Kennedy is a seventh and eighth grade science teacher at Sebasticook Valley Middle School in Newport.
William O’Brien is a math teacher at Camden Hills Regional High School.
They’re up for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching.
Two other finalists are from Windham and Westbrook.
The National Science Foundation will select two winners from each state to be recognized in Washington, D.C. next spring.
That’s where they’ll also receive a $10,000 award.
