BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) — People in Maine, Ohio and several other states have been unable to get food stamps on their debit cards after a routine check by vendor Xerox Corp. caused a system failure.
The system went down in Maine on Saturday morning. Shoppers abandoned groceries at the Market Basket in Biddeford and other stores around the state.
All states that use Xerox systems are affected by the outage.
A Xerox spokeswoman says technicians are addressing the issue and expect the system to be restored soon.
