A man who tried to rob a convenience store on Mount Desert Island with a gun but was wrestled to the ground by the owner will spend ten years in prison.

Chris Stevens, 39, of Millinocket was sentenced after pleading guilty to robbery in August.

The Hancock County District Attorney’s Office says he admitted to a host of other crimes related to the robbery, too, including burglary and theft.

The owner of Town Hill Market says in April he was confronted by Stevens early one morning.

He tried to overtake Stevens and the two wrestled until Stevens’ gun went off twice.

No one was hurt.

The owner then held Stevens at knifepoint until police arrived.

Stevens stole the gun from a friend’s house the day before the robbery.
