From the TV 5 Forecast Center:
High clouds associated with a warm front located south of New England will move across the state throughout the day today giving us a partly to mostly sunny sky. The thickest clouds will be over southern and western parts of the state. Temperatures for today will be a bit cooler than yesterday but will still be above average again with highs in the mid-60s to low 70s. Some cloudiness will linger tonight especially over southern and western areas. It’ll be chilly tonight with lows in the mid-30s north to 40s elsewhere.
We’ll see more clouds moving into the state on Saturday with a few breaks of sunshine mixed in. It’ll be a dry day Saturday so a decent start to the weekend, just not as bright as what we’ve we’re used to as of late. As a result of more clouds/less sunshine, temperatures will be a bit cooler with highs in the 60s Saturday afternoon. Low pressure moving through the Great Lakes will pull a warm front northward across Maine on Sunday and will give us a chance for some afternoon showers especially over the northern half of the state. Temperatures for Sunday will be seasonable with highs in the mid-50s to low 60s. A cold front is forecast to move through the state on Monday giving us a better chance for more widespread showers or possibly some steadier, heavier rainfall for the start of the work week.
We’ll be watching Tropical Storm Karen as well. The storm is expected to make landfall around New Orleans on Saturday then weaken as it heads inland and travels across the southeastern U.S. Some of the computer models are bringing the remnants of Tropical Storm Karen northward into New England resulting in some heavier rain on Tuesday while other computer models are pushing the storm out to sea well south of New England. Right now, the thinking is that the storm will move out to sea south of New England having no impact on our forecast for Tuesday but of course we’ll keep an eye on it and let you know if anything changes as we get closer.
