After a bit of a makeover, the folks at the Skowhegan Opera House are hoping to attract some new acts.

It’s located on the second floor of the municipal building on Main Street in Skowhegan.

Thanks in part to a charitable donation, they’ve replaced the seating in the lower level, put in a new sprinkler system, and done other renovations.

After the changes, the opera house now seats 851 people.

Comedian Tim Sample will perform there in a few weeks and they’re hoping to attract even more performers.

“We’re looking for musical groups, comedians which we have Tim Sample coming up. So all of those events are things that we’re trying to promote in Skowhegan, to give the residents of Skowhegan and central Maine another additional option,” said Don Skillings, President of the Skowhegan Performing Arts.

Tickets are still available for the Tim Sample who performs at the Skowhegan Opera House on Saturday, October 12 at 7-30.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $22 at the door.

You can order tickets online at mainstreetskowhegan.org

Tickets are also available at the Skowhegan Chamber of Commerce or at Don Skillings insurance on Madison Avenue in Skowhegan.
