Lunch time for SAD 37 in Washington County was extra special Tuesday.
It was Harvest Day.
Every year a menu is put together with local food items.
This year the kids enjoyed lobster rolls and stew.
Half of the lobster meat was donated by Atwood Lobster Company from Perry’s Wharf in Harrington.
The other half was bought for a discount at Dorr Lobster Pound in Milbridge.
Carrots came from Darthia’s Farm in Gouldsboro.
Blueberrys for cobbler came from Wyman’s of Cherryfield.
“All of it was because of what takes place in Washington County and makes it aware for our whole school district and our whole area, and we really appreciate it,” said kindergarten teacher, Alicia Babiarz.
“It’s fun to celebrate our Downeast way of life and bring in the Downeast food in our lunch program, so, it’s really nice,” said Principal Lorna Green.
Students throughout the district took part in the lunch.
