Federal Marijuana Trial of Monroe Woman Begins In Bangor

A Monroe woman is on trial in Federal Court in Bangor in connection with a marijuana growing operation.

58-year-old Darlene Ford, her husband James F. Ford and their two sons were arrested nearly two years ago in a police drug raid on Swan Lake Avenue.

The prosecution showed photos of the growing operation, which was on the first floor of a garage, under a small apartment where they lived.

Prosecution showed notebooks that served as ledgers, and submitted into evidence two assault weapons, as well as pictures they say shows James F Ford tending to pot plants.

Darlene Ford’s defense says she was not aware of the operation, that her husband was running it.

Authorities found more than 2-hundred pot plants at the home.

Their son James T. Ford of Monroe pleaded guilty last year.

In June he was sentenced to five years in prison.

His brother Paul Ford pleaded guilty in May and awaits sentencing.

Darlene Ford’s trial is expected to wrap up Tuesday or Wednesday, and then be decided by the jury of seven men and five women.
