Former President George H.W. Bush will present an award to the wife of the former Emir of Qatar who has spearheaded education and social changes in that country.
The former Republican president and Barbara Bush will present the George Bush Award for Excellence in Public Service to Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser of Qatar on Thursday. The award will be presented at the 4th Annual George and Barbara Bush Distinguished Lecture at the University of New England in Biddeford.
Sheika Moza is the chairperson of the nonprofit organization Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. The university says that she has been working to bring social and education reforms to Qatar for more than 15 years and is a strong advocate for ensuring access to quality education.
