Authorities say the driver in a deadly Fourth of July accident in Thorndike turned himself in Wednesday.
The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office says charges against 27-year-old Alvaro Soares of Unity include manslaughter and O.U.I. involving death.
Police say on July 4th, he was the driver in a crash that killed 23-year-old Oscar Tizon Brito and injured 22-year-old Kelly Soares, both from Rhode Island.
Police say tests taken four hours after the crash showed he had a blood alcohol content of .07.
Soares is free on $50,000 bail.
He’s scheduled to be in court on Halloween.
