A Bangor woman was named a ‘Pearl of Wisdom’ Wednesday.

The Girl Scouts of Maine presented Julia Munsey, with the annual Juliette Award.  The award is named after Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts of the USA.

The award is given to a woman– Girl Scout or not– who embodies service, determination, and leadership.

Munsey is the Marketing and Public Relations Specialist for Oxford Networks.

“Seeing the potential, seeing what the Girl Scouts do for the girls in the state of Maine, it fills me with hope and so being honored by the Girl Scouts, an organization that inspires courage, confidence and character in our young people, I’m just so pleased and proud to have been honored,” Munsey said.

According to the Girl Scouts, 80% of women business owners today were Girl Scouts.
