People were having a lot of fun Friday at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. The celebration was part of Residential Care Week. It was a chance to have fun with the veterans and volunteers. Members of the 101st Air National Guard stopped by, too. ” It’s all about family. They become our family and to know that they are feeling so special and the 101st makes them feel so special as well, so to have that connection and to see them smile and enjoy the day, you can’t really say in words how wonderful that is,” said Janet Mitchell, residential care director. The rain put a damper on a wiffle ball game that was supposed to happen, so instead, they had wheelchair and three-legged races.
