In Brewer, there’s a constant reminder of the 9-11 attacks. Steel recovered from the wreckage at ground zero is part of the city’s public safety museum. Three pieces of the twin towers were given to the department in 2008. Today, fire fighters raised an American flag on the ladder of an aerial trick, and took time to remember the events of 12 years ago. “It’s just a reminder of what went on that day, and what we’re all really trying to do. It’s a reminder everyday when you come to work of the sacrifices that were made that day,” said Captain Brent Melvin of Brewer Fire Department. Firefighters say they will continue to talk about the tragedy because they don’t ever want people to forget what happened.
