Peace and Justice Center Protests Action in Syria

In Bangor, protestors called for peace in Syria. The group gathered outside the public library, holding signs for their cause. The Peace and Justice Center of Eastern Maine organized the demonstration. The dozen protestors asked drivers on Harlow St. to “honk for peace” and generated plenty of noise.Although the group says they’re horrified by the use of chemical weapons, they believe the message sent through a military strike isn’t worth the collateral damage. The protestors say they’re also concerned a U.S. missile attack could lead to violent retaliation in the region. They hope tax dollars are instead used to help the hundreds of thousands displaced because of the country’s civil war.
