A man who’s serving three life sentences for a triple killing in 2010 appealed his case to the Maine Supreme Court Monday. 23-year-old Thayne Ormsby was found guilty last year of stabbing to death 55-year-old Jeffrey Ryan, his 10-year-old son, Jesse, and family friend, Jason Dehan, at Ryan’s home in Amity.Ormsby’s lawyers argued before the court that Ormsby was questioned by skilled police officers who plowed through the interrogation, even though Ormsby tried to protect his rights. They also said the trial in Houlton should have been moved to a different location. His lawyers contend jurors should have heard more testimony from an expert witness about whether Ormsby was mature enough to appreciate the wrongfulness of his conduct. There’s no time frame for the justices to decide if Ormsby’s conviction or sentence should be overturned.
