Deer Isle Woman Going to Prison for Running Over Boyfriend 

A woman from Deer Isle who fatally ran over her boyfriend with a car will spend a year-and-a-half in prison.As part of a deal with prosecutors, 30-year-old Kimberly pleaded no contest Friday to aggravated OUI. Besides jail time, the judge also ordered her to pay a $2,100 fine.Phelan was originally charged with manslaughter and reckless conduct, but those charges were dropped in exchange for her plea.Police say Phelan told them she and 31-year-old Andrew Ray had been drinking and were on their way back to Deer Isle last September when they stopped to smoke pot in Blue Hill.Police say she told them they argued, Ray punched in the passenger side window and, while trying to move away, Phelan ran over him.Ray died at a hospital.Court records say Phelan’s blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit.
