Students Celebrate Back to School With Luau 

Students at the University of Maine at Augusta’s Bangor campus celebrated going to back to school with a luau Tuesday.The college’s student government association threw the party and BBQ to celebrate the first day of classes.While they had planned for the event to be outdoors, they made the best of a rainy situation earlier Tuesday indoors.”A lot of our students that we have here are coming back for classes so their bit really looking for the traditional college experience, but we want to make them feel welcome and do some fun stuff for them, but that’s really what we want to do. We want to show that we care and that we want them to stick around and have some fun while they’re here with us,” said Michael Sales, Coordinator of Student Life, UMA Bangor.There was even a pig roast.Students could get temporary tattoos.This is one of many events on campus this week to celebrate the first week of classes.
