EMMC Breaks Ground on Modernization Project 

Big improvements are underway at Bangor’s largest hospital.A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday morning for Eastern Maine Medical Center’s modernization project.The project is expected to cost around $300-million dollars.Hospital officials say it will help employees step up the level of care for patients.”It will provide new operating rooms, new NICU, labor and delivery suite, private room accommodations and cardiac services,” said Debbie Johnson, CEO, EMMC.”Much more floor space to take care of patients and soon it will allow parents to spend 24/7 with their sick newborn and as they get ready to go home,” said Mark Brown, Chief of Pediatrics, EMMC.The project is expected to be complete in two and a half years.
