Police: Car Crashed into Train in Ellsworth

For the second time in less than a week, a vehicle has crashed into a train in Maine. Police say a car crashed into a train Monday afternoon on Davis Street, where the Downeast Scenic Railroad crosses. According to Sgt. Shawn Willey with the Ellsworth Police Department, the driver told police she did not see the train. Witnesses say the train was sounding its horn at the time of the crash. Sgt. Willey says there are no lights at the crossing, but there are railroad crossing signs. No one on the train was hurt. The driver of the car is ok, but the car is totaled. Last Thursday, a dump truck crashed into a train in Hampden. The driver of the truck broke his pelvis and some ribs. Police say most of the brakes weren’t working properly on the dump truck.
