Bangor Buffalo Wild Wings’ Grand Opening

People are coming out in droves to check out the new wing joint in on Stillwater Ave. in Bangor.”I think Buffalo Wild Wings is a very unique atmosphere for wings, beers, and sports. Whether you want to bring in your kids for a birthday party or come in with your buddies and watch a game, it’s something for everybody,” said Opening General Manager and Part-Owner Becky Wilson. While there are more than 900 Buffalo Wild Wings locations across the country and in Canada, this one is all about local team pride. Something Orono High School football Coach Bob Sinclair appreciates.”Makes me feel great, especially when you see the Orono High School jersey and it’s my old high school football number. I don’t think I can squeeze into it now,” said Sinclair. Coach Sinclair and his family have eaten at the chain when vacationing in Florida and when cheering on his favorite Red Skins in DC. They say they’ve been excited for this one to open. “I’ve seen one former student here working already, obviously the place is busy. I think it’s great for the greater Bangor economy,” he said. “Extra cash. It’s fun. It doesn’t feel like work,” said former Orono High School student Ariel Meaker. While televisions line the restaurant’s walls, there’s another form of entertainment: the Blazin’ Wing challenge. Eat 12 super spicy wings in 6 minutes without drinks, dressings, or vegetables. This birthday boy finished the challenge with just 30 seconds to spare. He thought they were tasty, despite the spice. “Like fire on a chicken,” said David Jones of Fairfield. “We’re just excited to be here. I’ve been waiting to open this store since I moved out here three years ago, so to finally get the chance to open a store in Bangor, this is my home now, so I’m happy to be home,” said Wilson.
