A Belfast man accused of murder made his first court appearance Thursday evening and is being held without bail for the time being.This after a shooting Wednesday night on Waldo Avenue, which is also Route 137, in Belfast.According to court documents, 44-year-old Todd Gilday forced his way into the residence around 11pm Wednesday night.Authorities say that’s where he killed 55-year-old Lynn Arsenault and severely injured her son.State Police say Arsenault died of blood loss due to a gun shot wound to the chest.Her son, 22-year-old Mathew Day’s condition has improved from critical to stable condition at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. In addition to the murder charge, Gilday faces an elevated aggravated assault charge for attacking Day. A friend of Day’s was also in the home and called police. Police say he was not injured.State Police say Gilday knew at least one person in the home. Police found Gilday and his car early Thursday morning at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. He had checked himself in at the hospital.Gilday is in custody at Two Bridges in Wiscasset.
