National Fast Food Protest Hits Ellsworth
Protests against low wages for fast food workers took place across the country, Thursday.About a dozen people gathered in front of the McDonald’s in Ellsworth chanting for a minimum wage of $15.00 per hour for all employees. “I think that it’s important for workers everywhere because the wages for workers are not keeping up with the cost of living,” said one protester who happened to be driving by and decided to join in. “There are those struggling to try to raise families and to make it on minimum wage and you cant. You just cant,” said Ann Roberts with Community Union. The federal minimum wage was increased to $7.25 and hour in 2009.
