She beat out Republican Paula Benoit and Green Independent Daniel Stromgren.Democrats say about 9,000 people cast their ballots and Vitelli won by about 400 votes. The candidates only had about a month to campaign after Seth Goodall of Richmond resigned to take a job overseeing the U.S. Small Business Administration’s New England region. In a statement released tonight, Senate President Justin Alfond said, “As someone who has helped thousands of Mainers get to work and start businesses, Eloise is the right person for the job as Maine’s next State Senator. I know she will stand up for the people of her community, and I look forward to working with her as we help grow our economy and put more Mainers back to work.”
