Since 1888, the Windsor Fair has been entertaining Maine families. This year’s version got under way Sunday. For starters, you can look forward to seeing a pumpkin that weighs half a ton. There are plenty of rides, and food, agricultural attractions too. On Monday, dairy farmers got to showcase award-winning livestock. The blue ribbon winners for “showmanship” shed some insight into preparing cattle for competition.”Scratch them a little bit, talk to them. Get them used to being around you. Put the halters on them and get to lead them kind of like a dog on a leash. Get them used to being around people,” said Kristen Davis of Silver Valley Farm. Organizers expect that 100,000 people will visit the fairgrounds in the next week.
