New Class of Guard Graduates
Eleven newly-qualified Army National Guard soldiers graduated Sunday in Bangor. The “qualified warriors” have gone through basic and advanced training. Command Sergeatn Major Conley, from the National Guard Bureau in Washington, DC spoke to the graduates.Major Conley is the highest ranking official to speak at the ceremony in Bangor. The graduates said they’ve been waiting for this day for a long time, “Fantastic, it’s a great feeling to reach gold phase you know I’ve been here through so many drills, I’ve seen gold phasers and I’ve always wanted to sit in those seats and finally today I get to sit in that seat,” said David Cayia.”That resilience and dedication is something that will get you anywhere and as long as you work really hard and don’t give up, then you’re going to get what you want,” said Rachel Ellis.After graduation some soldiers will be returning to college to finish up their degrees.
