Waterville Mom Accused of Abducting Her Children to Return to Maine

A woman from Waterville, who police say kidnapped two of her children and took them out of state, waived extradition and will be returned to Maine next week. Beth Marie Retamozzo, 34, was arrested Saturday night in South Carolina. She’s charged with two counts of criminal restraint by a parent. The State Highway Patrol spotted Retamozzo and her three kids at a rest area by I-95. Police say she was headed to Florida. Her 7-year-old daughter, 6-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter were fine.The children’s grandmother – who has legal custody of the two older children – told police the kids never returned from a supervised visit with Retamozzo last Thursday.The Kennebec County District Attorney says Waterville police are going to South Carolina to pick up Retamozzo and she’s expected back in Maine by the middle of next week.
