The heart of Bangor will soon be getting some much needed upgrades. West Market Square has pipes and sewer lines beneath it that are more than a hundred years old. City Council Chair, Nelson Durgin says the infrastructure must be replaced in the area. While crews are at it, the square will get some cosmetic improvements. There has been talk of making Broad Street pedestrian only, but officials say this is not in the current plan. The city council will put the project up for Bid by the end of this month and hopes to begin work in the fall.
