10 Days in Jail for Bangor Man Who Abused Dog
A man from Bangor is going to jail for 10-days for admitting to abusing a dog after it urinated on the floor. As part of a plea deal, 31-year-old Jason Tompkins pleaded guilty today to animal cruelty. He was also ordered to pay more than $2,600 in veterinary bills and can’t own a pet for the next five years. Nearly two years ago, Tompkins picked up the now 6-year-old border collie named Mickey and threw him against the floor. Doctors said Mickey would probably be paralyzed for life. Penobscot County Assistant District Attorney Susan Pope and her husband nursed him back to health.The maintenance director for the county courthouse, Tom Duffy, adopted Mickey.He says Mickey spends many of his days at the courthouse now, begging for treats.
