One person is dead after accident on I-95N in Township T2-R8 Sunday morning. State Police said Tyler Anderson, 19, from Van Buren was driving five relatives home from vacation in Rhode Island on Sunday. Around 9:30am at mile marker 229 on I-95N, Police said Anderson was having a conversation with the front seat passenger. Authorities believe, while looking at the passenger, Anderson veered right, contacting the rumble strip. This alarmed him, so while trying to correct the car’s path, he over turned to the left. The car rolled over several times into the median. Anderson was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on scene. Officials said the five other passengers, including one adult, had non-life threatening injuries. A juvenile passenger was fully ejected from the vehicle, but sustained only non-life threatening injuries.State Police, Penobscot Sheriffs Department, Lincoln Police and Fire Departments, and East Millinocket and Lincoln Ambulance service responded to the scene. Lincoln Fire Department used the jaws of life to remove one passenger. The passengers were all transported to Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln. LifeFlight did fly to the scene, but did not transport any of the victims. One of those passengers, 34-year-old Heidi Kennedy of Van Buren, suffered significant injuries. She was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center where she is listed in fair condition. State Police Trooper Thomas Fiske told us off camera that no alcohol was involved in the accident. He says the driver’s lack of attention and inexperience caused the accident. I-95N was closed at exit 227 in Lincoln for more than 4 hours. Drivers were detoured off the exit and were able to return to I-95N at exit 244 in Medway.
