A $6.3 million school budget for Millinocket went down in defeat Tuesday night, by a margin of 10 votes. The town clerk says the town council’s version of the budget was about $300,000 less than what the school department proposed. Voters rejected it, 385 to 375. It’s the second time they’ve turned down the budget. Councilors cut money from the proposal to help with the town’s cash flow problem, which is short right now by $3 to $4 million. The council will meet August 8th to determine where to go from here.
