Voters in all eight towns that make up RSU 20 have rejected a $33.4 million school budget. It’s the second time they’ve turned down a proposal for the Belfast area schools. The budget they voted on TuesdaY was about $1 million less than the first one that went to the polls in June. Superintendent Brian Carpenter says some of the feedback he’s getting now is that this time the budget may be too low. The finance committee will meet next week to figure out what to do next. Another budget vote could come in early September. RSU 20 is made up of schools in Belfast, Belmont, Morrill, Northport, Searsmont, Searsport, Stockton Springs and Swanville.
