Bangor State Fair Preps for Friday Opening

It’s that time of year again, the Bangor State Fair is back in town.Gates officially opening Friday at 2pm.A new ferris wheel will be a main attraction this year. Also, the Demolition Derby will be back on the midway. For those who aren’t thrill ride fans, there will be a new admission ticket this year. Instead of the normal $12 entrance fee, those who don’t plan on enjoying the rides will pay a $7 ground use fee. The General Manager of the fair, Mike Dyer said the State Fire Marshall’s office will be doing safety inspections Thursday and Friday. But he says the ride company, Fiesta Shows, is one of the safest around. “We deal with more people coming to us irate about not having small children being allowed on some rides because it wouldn’t be safe for them, or people who are too big for a ride or something like that. We deal with that a lot more than we deal with actual problems on the rides.”The fair will run through August 4th. For a full list of events and hours head to
