Hermon fire crews responded to a fire at a local milk depot Tuesday night.A report came in just before midnight of a tractor trailer on fire at the Garelick Farm Depot. Two employees noticed that a trailer that had been parked there for about an hour was on fire. When crews got there they say the engine compartment was in flames.”We had a pretty aggressive attack. When the crews finally made entry into the trailer, there was fire in the trailer. They stopped it extending into the building before it had a chance to get there,” said Eric Pelletier, Assistant Fire Chief of the Hermon Fire Department.Although no fire reached the building, the trailer next to it was damaged.Authorities say anytime there’s a food product involved, the fire department is required to notify the Food and Drug Administration. They say there was no milk in the building. There was milk in the damaged trailers that will be disposed of.The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
